Handled for You: apostille requests for all 50 states, federal document authentication through the U.S. Department of State, and embassy or consular legalization when required.
Apostille vs. Authentication & Legalization
An apostille is a certificate that authenticates the signature of a public official on a document for use in another country. It does not validate the contents of the document itself. An apostille confirms:
The authenticity of the signature of the public official who signed the document
The capacity in which that public official acted
When appropriate, the identity of the seal or stamp the document bears
Apostilles are used for documents being sent to countries that are part of the Hague Apostille Convention, a treaty that simplifies this process for foreign public documents. Authentication and Legalization serve the same purpose for countries that are not part of the Hague Convention. An Authentication is typically the first step in a multi-step process that may include certification by the U.S. Department of State and Legalization by a foreign embassy or consulate.
